NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL StormReady® Severe Weather Spotter Training
O’Fallon, Illinois – January 24, 2008 –
Mayor
Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that the City of O’Fallon is
now an official StormReady® Community. During the
January 22 City Council Meeting, Jim Kramper, warning coordination
meteorologist at the St. Louis forecast office, presented the City
of O’Fallon with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) StormReady® Community designation.
StormReady® encourages communities to take a new,
proactive approach to improving local hazardous weather operations
and public awareness. It also arms communities with improved
communication and safety skills needed to save lives and property,
before and during severe weather and flood events.
· Establish
a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center; the public;
· Create
a system that monitors local weather conditions; and hold emergency exercises.
